The Design and Characterization of New Chitosan, Bioglass and ZnO-Based Coatings on Ti-Zr-Ta-Ag

The starting point of this study is a new alloy with rare metals such as Ta and Zr that has Ag in the composition, proven antibacterial properties. New coatings on Ti-Zr-Ta-Ag capable improving alloys’ properties to be suitable for more applications have yet fabricated. formulations based chitosan (Ch) bioglass (BG) were designed multifunctional deposited from suspensions mentioned alloy. To make used deposition, several samples made containing Ch, BG ZnO various mass ratios. A number solutions different component ratios produced analyzed by ζ potential Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) determine most stable mixture, which was subsequently samples. mixtures obtained after applying coating characterized morphological compositional standpoint using Scanning Electron Microscopy coupled energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDX) Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR). Further analyses performed contact angle roughness analysis. Zeta measurements demonstrated evidence good stability coatings. size ceramic particles between 1 10 μm. From SEM, morphology all components mixture chitosan, are shown present surface. FTIR determination, functional groups appear presence BG, chitosan. values coated hydrophilic domain but higher compared uncoated values. Such behavior promising bioapplication.
